For my 3rd Monspiration I wanted to find out what the difference is between shooting on studio & location. When I started I only used location and I did this for many years; but while I was studying photography I discovered the joy of shooting in studio. And I've been a studio photographer for the past 1,5 mostly as I couldn't find my voice in location anymore . But like only creativity can flow, so did that change as well.
As part of a self-study as well I decided to see what the difference would be between both of it. I was able to put together an amazing styling thanks to three of my favorite designers (Hysteria Machine, Arma Medusa & El Costurero Real) and my muse Ophidia was once again very willing to endure one of my crazy ideas!
In the end my thoughts are: none of them are better. I do find it amazing to see what a change of story it has. Shooting in studio allows me for a much more simplistic and dark approach where I find her strength and dark personality shining through of this character design. When I shot her on location, I found it more a story of finding strength in solitude and peace.
Below are the step-by-step images of the first shots from the studio, followed by the step-by-step photos from the same set on location. I used a Canon 5D Mark II, processed in Lightroom first and finished in Photoshop CS6.
Below you can find the behind the scenes video of this amazing day!
Hope you all enjoy.
